Lemire captures the frustration of Grayson and turns the tables on the dynamic between Dick and Bruce. This is not new territory for any of these characters, but Lemire finds the sweet spot that makes this Gotham seem fresh. Bruce is a hard-headed vigilante who is laser-focused on his mission, Dick is attempting to prove himself to the Dark Knight while also struggling with the loss of his parents and the circus-life he left behind, and Alfred is the most tragic character within the Bat Cave, as he watches his son Bruce not only destroy himself but also snare a small boy into his quest for vengeance. When approaching Batman, on the writer's side, Lemire is able to perfectly break down the trio of characters in Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, and Alfred Pennyworth, displaying the power struggle between the residents of Wayne Manor. ![]() 5/9/2023 0 Comments Black ships before troy book![]() ![]() ![]() " A splendid offering, bringing the ancient tale to new and vibrant life."Kirkus Reviews, Pointer This book has been selected as a Common Core State Standards Text Exemplar (Grades 6-8, Stories) in Appendix B.
